EKETAHUNA

SERVICE TO DISTRICT MR & MRS ROBERTSON HONOURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Odd Fellows’ Hall, Eketahuna, was crowded recently when residents of Eketahuna and the surrounding districts gathered to honour Mr and Mrs J. Robertson. Mr G. Hansen presided and on behalf of those present handed Mr Robertson a silver' mounted salad bowl, suitably inscribed and presented Mrs| Robertson with a bouquet. Mr Hansen said the gifts were a small token of the appreciation felt for the remarkable services that Mr Robertson had rendered the district, as former member for the Masterton electorate. Mr Robertson, said Mr Hansen, had carried. out his many duties in an efficient manner and had given sterling service. “The people of Eketahuna and district owe Mr Robertson a great debt.” observed Mr O. Walton in speaking on behalf of the people of the borough and county. They had a high sense of appreciation of the services rendered by Mr Robertson. Mr Walton referred particularly to the closing of the Eketahuna Dairy Factory and spoke of the fight Mr Robertson had made to keep it open. It was no fault of Mr Robertson that it was closed. Mr Walton said in many other ways the district owed a debt to Mr. Robertson. Mr Robertson suitably replied. Dancing was enjoyed and the gathering was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
