PRISONERS OF WAR
RECAPTURED IN ITALY ALLEGEDLY SENTENCED TO DEATH. IN VIOLATION OF GENEVA CONVENTION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, February 8. Six escaped British prisoners of war, who had been in hiding in Northern Italy since the Italian armistice, have been recaptured and five have been sentenced to death, according to the German news agency. The British Government has drawn the attention of the Protecting Power to the fact that, the men, as prisoners of war, are entitled to all the privileges and protection conferred on such prisoners, and has asked for confirmation cf the report and for full particulars with the least possible delay.
