ACUTE FERMENT
IN BULGARIAN POLITICS PANIC AND UNEASINESS. UNDER NAZI DOMINATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, January 7. Telegraph and telephone communications between Turkey and Bulgaria, which were interrupted this week, have been resumed. “The Times” Istanbul correspondent says the interruption is believed to have been the result of the Germans taking over control of key services in Bulgaria because of the state of panic and unrest which has reigned since the Russian advance towards Rumania began and als'o since the last air attack on Sofia. More than 100,000 of the population of 450,000 are estimated .to have been evacuated from Sofia. The political situation in Bulgaria is still confused. The Germans are intent on a stronger Cabinet, under one of their trusted henchmen. Prince Cyril and Premier Bojilev are trying to retain the present Cabinet, on a plea for the formation, of a Cabinet, comprising all shades of opinion, which might be able to produce a change in' Bulgarian policy. Naturally the Germans put a veto on such a scheme. Bulgarian politics are in a state of fermentation which may lead any day to an acute crisis that will have interesting developments.
