Sixteen British Indian .merchant seamen have reached shore as survivors of a crew of 72, many of whom were drowned when a Japanese submarine rammed their boats, after sinking a freighter off the Indian coast. One survivor said the submarine, after sinking the ship, began methodically ramming and machine-gunning the men in boats and on rafts.
