NURSES’ CARNIVAL. WINNERS OF VARIOUS EVENTS. A very successful swimming carnival was held at the Nurses’ Home, Masterton, on Wednesday evening. All the nurses off duty were present. Miss Grant and Sisters McGowan, Meredith and Cooper acted as judges. Twenty nurses competed and the following are the results of the various races: —Beginners’ race: Nurse Olson. Beginners’ dive: Nurse Columb. Best breaststroke: Miss Abraham. Balloon race: Nurse Houge. Paper hat race: Sister James. Candle race: Nurse Cunningham. Potato race: Nurse Houge. Old clothes race: Nurse Falloon. Best dive off running board: Nurse Houge. Running dive: Nurse Falloon. Best style: Miss Abraham and Nurse Houge. Freestyle: Nurse Houge. Relay race: Pink nurses. Crocodile race: Green nurses. Plunge: Miss Abraham. After the swimming, supper was served and the gathering was brought to a close with a communty sing. The proceeds of the carnival were in aid of the student nurses’ fund.'
