BOROUGH WATER IMPROVING THE SUPPLY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Carterton’s water supply which has been unsatisfactory since the earthquake in June, 1942, is now receiving attention by the borough staff and when the work has been completed there should be a decided improvement noticeable. Despite what is being done to improve the quantity of water, councillors will have to face up to the fact that a larger supply is necessary. The service which was put in over 40 years ago is totally inadequate today for all purposes. Personal Items. Miss Conway, of Dunedin, is spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs W. Wadham, Brooklyn Road, Carterton. Mr W. Shirley has just received word that his son, A. T. (“Bill”) Shirley, has been promoted to the rank of Captain. L/Cpl. lan A. Bond, who was a prisoner of war in Italy, arrived in Wellington yesterday. He was met by his wife and son and his parents. A.C.2 H. W. Morris, Rhodes Street, Carterton, who has been spending 18 days leave in Carterton and Hastings, returned today to his air force unit.
