In New Britain, United States Marines are engaged in fierce fighting with the Japanese east of Cape Gloucester. Six hundred Japanese were killed in the Borgen Bay area on Tuesday, bringing the total of enemy dead since the American landing to well over 2000. . At the other end of New Britain. Allied aircraft raided Rabaul and brought down ten Japanese aircraft.
