Miss K. Dight. Auckland, is the guest of Mrs Rutherford, Worksop Road. Masterton. Dr. James Harper Reid, one of the oldest medical practitioners in Wanganui, has died, aged 75. Mrs Greenwood, of Masterton, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Boustead, Alfredton Road, Eketahuna. Mr and Mrs J. Bouzaid, of Herbert Street, Masterton, are spending a holiday at Paraparaumu Beach. Mr E. P. Chappell, paymaster of the Christchurch City Council, and Mrs Chappell (nee Miss Q. Perrin), are visiting relatives in Masterton. The engagement is announced of Nancie, only daughter of Mr and the late Mrs H. E. Greathead. Eketahuna. and Jack, younger son of Mr and Mrs W. C. Burge, Austin Street, Wellington. Mr C. H. (Bill) Moore, a son of the late Mr F. G. Moore, Masterton, who was taken prisoner from a cable station north of Singapore by the Japanese, has advised his sister, Miss Dolly Mooie. that he is safe and well. Mr and Mrs, A. Keith, Upper Plain, have pleasure'in announcing the engagement of their son, Flying Officer Alexander Stuart, to Celia, second daughter of Mr and Mrs William Buxton. Devonshire Crescent, Vancouver. Canada. The death has occurred at Palmerston North of Mrs Annie Shaw, widow of Reginald George Shaw, of Carnarvon, aged 66 years, who was well known in Masterton. At the funeral the pall-bearers were Messrs J. Powell. J. Hill, P. Teague. W. Harris. G. Harris. of Carnarvon, and L. Price, of Masterton. The many friends of Private Eric Lee and Mrs Lee (a daughter of Mr .and Mrs J. H. Cunningham, of Mastcr;ton), will regret to hear of the death of their infant daughter, Vivienne Marjory, which occurred this morning, at the age of 17 days, Private Lee is serving with the New Zealand forces in the" Middle East. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the Chapel of Hyde’s Funeral Service Ltd. at 11 a.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
