4 SALE AT ADDINGTON. LOWER VALUES FOR SHEEP AND CATTLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 5. The continued dry weather caused a substantial increase in entries at today’s Addington market and values eased all round, particularly for fat cattle. For store sheep the top figure was 19s 9d, and another large line made 16s 2d. The ewes and lambs forward were in poor condition and met with a very dragging sale, prices ranging from 7s 3d to 14s, all counted, with old sheep down to 3s Id. Fat sheep: The quality generally was very poor and the worst yarded this season. The highest price for wethers was 44s Id and for* ewes 29s Id, but the average price for the best of the ewes ranged from 21s to 235. Cattle: The market opened much lower than at previous sales and receded further in the final stages, heavy prime bodies being 40s to 45s a head lower. On an average cattle were down by up to'4os and prime young steers were down about 255. Pigs: There was a fair entry in the porker section and the sale was firmer by Is to 2s a head on the Christmas market. Competition was, keen for all classes in the bacon section at late values, the average -price per lb. being 8d to B;}d. MASTERTON SALE, A SMALL OFFERING. The Wairarapa Stock and Station agents held their weekly sale at the Colombo Road sale yards yesterday. The attendance was poor and the offering was small due to it being the .first sale after the holidays. There was little interest given to two-tooth weers offered, but the lamb market made a good start. The following are the prices:—Fat wethers, 23s 6d; fat maiden ewes, 23s 6cl; fat ewes, 12s; fat Southdown ewes, 13s; fat lambs, 23s 3d, 225. Store sheep: Two-tooth wethers, 20s, 18s; black-face lambs, 16s 7d; white-face lambs, 13s 6d; cull lambs, 7s Id, 3s 6d.
