RUSSIA & HER SMALL NEIGHBOURS POSSIBILITY OF SOLUTION SEEN. IN BRITAIN'S RELATIONS WITH DOMINIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK. December 18. “A very high official source has denied that Russia was assured at Tehera nof a free hand in north-eastern Europe in return for a renunciation of ambitions for control of the Dardanelles,” says the “New York Times.’’ “The reports have been so persistent that they led to anxious inquiries at the State Department by representatives of Russia’s small European neighbours. “The Polish Cabinet in London has been considering adherence to the new Russo-Czech treaty, which would inevitably involve some formula for the eventual settlement of the SovietPolish boundary, which is one of the most troublous Russian questions. It is believed in Washington that the Polish Cabinet will have decided at least to discuss the question with Russia. “It is not known what compromise *can be effected between the Atlantic Charter, which represents the British and American position, and the Russians’ absorption of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. However, a representative in Washington of one of those countries said that if Russia could treat her small neighbours as Britain treated the Dominions, a peaceful solution of their fate might be found.”
