NEW ZEALAND STANDS HIGH IN WORLD EYES
4 Election time is productive of criticism—and rightly so, in a democracy. But it is important that the citizen and voter should at a time when every institution and even our war effort is assailed, keep a clear picture in mind of the achievements of New Zealand as a whole. Objective opinion from overseas is refreshing and impartial, and a healthy antidote to the remarks jaf those who, to make a case, even tarnish New Zealand’s fair name. Said Leonard N. Brockington, K.C., adviser to the British Ministry of Information on Commonwealth Affairs: “Everywhere there is uniform admiration for this little country of yours; I have never heard one single word of criticism of it. and New Zealand is the only country about which I can say that.” Equally of New Zealand’s leader, the Rt. Hon. Peter Fraser, Lord Beaverbrook has said: “I am much impressed with Peter Fraser. He is a strong man.” The Labour Government has pledged itself to maintain unflaggingly a war effort which has won the admiration of the world.
