LAMBS AND CALVES SCHOOL COMPETITIONS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The lamb and calf competitions were held at the school recently, many parents and friends being present. Mr L. Heckler, in addressing those present, referred to the good work done by the late Mr C. Hartley during his 20 years on the school committee, and hoped that the children would try to lead a very useful life, the same as Mr Hartley had done Mr Heckler extended sympathy to the relatives of Mr C. Hartley. Those present stood for a few minutes in silence as a mark of respect to Mr Hartley’s memory. The winners in the competitions were: Best calf: Edna Cooper. Lambs: Best wool lamb, Linda Burch; best pet, Barbara Burch; fat lamb, Lexie Clay worth;, champion lamb, Linda Burch; five next best lambs, Marjorie Godinagh, Michael Smith, Beaucham Dickens, Owen Curtis, Bill Payne. . There were.2s lambs m all. lhe three best leading lambs were shown by Kelvin Hartley, Richie Rolls, Douglas Houlbrooke. . At the conculsion of the judging Mi Burch, chairman of the School Committee, thanked Mr Heckler for judgin'* and the parents for their interest in the competitions. The ladies served afternoon tea.
