SALVAGE OF WASTE

NEW APPOINTMENTS MADE TO NATIONAL COUNCIL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of Supply and Munitions, Mr D. G. Sullivan, announced todav that, following upon the deaths of Messrs Charles Todd and John Read, he has appointed in their stead upon the National Council for the reclamation of waste material Messrs H. J. Tubbs, manager of Messrs John Dickinson and Co. (N.Z.) Ltd., and J. H. Collins, representing the Trades and Labour Councils. The Minister stated that, in addition, he had considered it advisable to appoint, on the recommendation of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, a representative of the farming community and he had selected Mr H. J. McLeavey, of Ohau, who was well known among farmers generally and at the moment is President of the Manawatu section of the Farmers’ Union.

The complete personnel of the committee is now Messrs J. W. Collins, 0.8. E. (chairman), J. M. A. Hott (de-puty-chairman), E. Sheed (Ministry of Supply), E. A. Batt and the three new apoointees. The Minister added that in its war activity, under his direction, the council had been doing very valuable work indeed in the carrying out of the Government’s policy of reclaiming waste material for war purposes.
