SENTENCED IN NORTHERN IRELAND COMMENTS BY JUDGE. GREAT DEAL OF EVIL WORK DONE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) BELFAST, November 26. _ When those convicted at the treason trial reported yesterday appeared for sentence, Hugh McAtteer, described as Chief of Staff of the 1.R.A., was sentenced to fifteen years’ penal servitude. The Judge said: “You are the ringleader of this movement and the man responsible in Northern Ireland for a great deal of evil work that has been done.”. ~ David Fleming, a bricklayer, of Belfast, who is a native of County Tipperary, and John Graham, Post Office assistant, Belfast, were both sentenced to twelve years’ penal servitude. John Dynan, radiographer, Belfast, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprison--rhent. He stated that he had severed his connection with the I.R.A. ’ After passing the sentences, the Judge remarked: “You are leaders of this movement and have brought into it boys who have no sense but follow where they are led.”

At the trial of the four men the Nor-* thern Ireland Attorney-General stated that the police had discovered plans

for a new campaign of “stark and callous violence.” In arresting two of the accused men the police wee met by gunfire. Documents seized at an I.R.A. denot, in which arms and ammunition were also found, instructed that the police be. singled out and shot down and public services disrupted.
