DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. HOMESTEAD & CONTENTS DESTROYED. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Wednesday night of last week the 14-roomed homestead owned and occupied by Mr G. E. Yule, South Featherston, was totally destroyed by fire. The entire contents were also destroyed. Mr Yule and family were out visiting friends and the outbreak was not discovered until the whole house was ablaze. Willing helpers saved the many outbuildings, and the Featherston Fire Brigade did valuable work in saving the high hedges that surrounded the house. The original part of the house was built nearly 80 years ago and the front two-storied portion was built 60 years ago. The timbei’ used throughout was heart totara. Personal. Mrs F. J. Staples is visiting relatives in Porongahau. Mrs Lawson has returned home from a visit to Wellington. Euchre Tournament. There was a very good attendance at the Service Club’s euchre tournament, the winners being Mrs McKenna 1, and Mrs Kinsey 2. Mr King was the competition winner. COSY THEATRE Tonight at the Cosy Theatre will be shown a riot of mirth and melody, ’'Sis Hopkins,” starring Judy Canova and Charles Butterworth. This comedy has shattered all existing records in Australia. Also Gracie Allen, William Post and Paul Kelly in “Mr and Mrs North.” Plus “Junior G-Men.”
