WASTE MATERIALS

COLLECTION IN MASTERTON. PAPER AND RUBBER GOODS. Satisfaction with the steps taken in Masterton to deal with waste paper was expressed yesterday by Mr E. A. Batt, a member of the National Council for the Reclamation of Waste Material Mr Batt conferred with the Town Clerk, Mr G. T. O’Hara Smith, on matters concerning waste materials. Nine bales of magazines and 194 bales of paper are to be despatched to the paper mills at Whakatane and several cases of books are to be sent to Wellington for transhipment to Australia. Mr Batt said that negotiations were proceeding with the Motor Sellers’ organisation to undertake the collection of used tires throughout New Zealand. Scrap rubber would be collected at the Waste Paper Depot.
