PATRIOTIC GIFTS
APPRECIATED BY SOLDIERS OVERSEAS. GENERAL FREYBERG’S THANKS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The service it has been possible to give to the New Zealand Forces in the forward areas in the Middle East and to the sick and wounded in hospital from the patriotic funds subscribed by the people of the Dominion is eulogised by Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Freyberg in a cable message the National Patriotic Fund Board received from, him yesterday afternoon. The text of the message is as follows:— “Would like people of New Zealand to know how much National Patriotic Fund is appreciated at time like this. Y.M.C.A., Church Army, and Red Cross are doing great work distributing patriotic fund cigarettes, tobacco, writing materials, chocolate and parcels, to men in forward areas and to wounded in hospitals. May I on behalf of N.Z.E.F. overseas once again thank people of New Zealand for their gift parcels and for their generosity in subscribing to the patriotic funds.”
