Herrod, F. Bush. Wairarapa players are to assemble at the' Club Hotel at 2 p.m. on Saturday. They must meet for practice at Carrington. Park, Carterton, at 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon next. The Army side contains several prominent New Zealand players. CARTERTON v WELLINGTON. FAST EXCITING GAME. The Carterton team beat the second Wellington fifteen on Saturday last at the Royal Oak grounds by 5 points to 3. The game was a very fast and exciting one. Just, before half time Wellington scored a try behind the posts but the kick at goal failed. In the second spell play was very keen and some creditable passing was indulged, in by both teams. Carterton scored a try and converted it, this being the only score during the spell. Mr B. Hurley was referee. GAMES IN WELLINGTON. PETONE LEADING IN CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. By beating Hutt by six points to nil in a hard-fought game at the Hutt Recreation Ground on Saturday. Petone remained unbeaten in the Wellington Rugby Union’s Jubilee Cup competition, and are now leading for the senior championship, with eight points, one point ahead of the Army fifteen.
