GEEMAN ATTACKS

REPELLED AT SEBASTOPOL ACCORDING TO MOSCOW RADIO. SWEEPING CLAIMS MADE BY ENEMY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, June 19. A new German assault against Sebastopol, with several waves of infantry supported by tanks and planes, failed, says the Moscow radio. The German tanks were unable to face the Russians’ artillery and fled, leaving the infantry to shift for themselves. Hundreds were killed. A German communique claims that attacks against Sebastopol yesterday brought decisive results. German infantry in the north sector reached Sewernaja Bay, on a wide front opposite Sebastopol town. Thus after twelve days' hard fighting, the communique adds, the entire northern part of the fortress, except one coastal fort, has fallen into German hands. The communique also states that Rumanian troops ejected the Russians from important positions in the southern part of the fortress. Berlin reports that the Russians launched fierce attacks on the central front after a violent artillery bombardment. Russian infantry, supported by tanks and bombers, attacked in waves, but were driven back.
