The White House announcement added that Mr Churchill’s visit was for immediate conferences with President Roosevelt regarding the conduct and winning of the war. The President’s Secretary, Mr Early, questioned whether it was permissible to speculate that Mr Churchill’s visit was connected with a second front, answered: “I think that is perfectly justified.”
