Anticipation of Major Decisions
SPECULATION REGARDING SECOND FRONT IN EUROPE OUTSTANDING TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION LONDON. June 19. On both sides of the Atlantic the news that the British Prime Minister, Mr Churchill, had arrived in Washington has been received with great satisfaction. In Washington the White House announced simultaneously with the official announcement in London that Mr Churchill had arrived in the United States. The White House announcement added that Mr Churchill’s visit was for immediate conferences with President Roosevelt regarding the conduct and winning of the war. The President’s Secretary, Mr Early, questioned whether it was permissible to speculate that Mr Churchill’s visit was connected with a second front, answered: “I think that is perfectly justified.”
