WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. APPOINTMENT OF WARDENS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Councillor. F. Court presided at the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council yesterday. There were also present: Councillors A. McGregor, C. A. Cameron, J. K. Strang, A. E. Reid, L. S. Gallon, E. W. Allen and the County Clerk, Mr E. T. Beaven. Apologies for absence were received from Councillors D. McGregor and R. O. Rayner. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £5225 Gs Id. The reports of the Carrington and Taratahi water race overseers were adopted. Reference was made to the Ingle-' wood County Council’s suggestion that a return to industry should be made of men who had undergone training in the Armed Forces and who were required in industry. The Government’s reply to this suggestion was to the effect that it was not desirable to take such a step, as the position in regard to harvesting and planting would be considered by the Man Power Committee. It was resolved to provide three bunks and mattresses at the whare at Te Wharau for the use of drovers. The following wardens were appointed to operate in the county:— Messrs W. Linton, H. Meyrick, G. Sadler, Cliff Abbott, W. G. Thomas, A. H. Callister, T. Bubb, E. Foreman, J. P. Petersen, D. Anderson and A. Burnows. The county overseer was instructed to report on the nuisance caused by overhanging trees and gorse and broom on the side of roads in the county.
