G. Coates, Minister in the War Cabinet, returned to Wellington yesterday from Auckland. The marriage took place quietly recently, with a full Nuptial Mass, at the Roman Catholic Church, Torquay, England, of Lieutenant Roderick McLeod, The Black Watch, son of Mr Alexander McLeod, Royal New Zealand Navy (Featherston), and Miss Frances Cecilia Glutton, daughter of the late Mr F. O. Clutton and Mrs Thomas, of Maesgwynne, Torquay. Special presentations at the Russell Masonic Lodge, Wellington, on Monday night, marked the completion of 50 years’ service by Mr G. Russell, who during that time served a term of office as Grand Master. The presentations made by the Grand Master, Mr Snelling, assisted by the Provincial Grand Master, Mr Stone, comprised a special Masonic jewel and a silver and paua shell inkstand engraved with the emblems of the order. Representatives from most Masonic lodges in Wellington were present. Later in the evening at a social gathering, Mr Russell was given a set of pipes and Mrs Russell a handbag.
