ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening, Mr N. Lamont presiding over a satisfactory attendance of members. Mr Lamont announced that news had been received of Dr. F. J. Williams, who until recently had been stationed as medical officer* at Port Moresby, but was now evacuated to Bowen, North Queensland, where he is superintendent of the Kennedy Hospital. A visitor to Masterton on several occasions, Dr. Williams is an eminent Esperantist and Quaker. The secretary, Sergeant W. H. King, narrated in Esperanto several humorOUS incidents from camp life. This was followed by club members undertaking organised reading, translation and conversational Esperanto. The concluding item, a short Esperanto poem entitled “La Progreso de la Homo” (The Progress- of Man) was contributed. by Mrs N. Lamont.
