LEND-LEASE AID
AND POST=WAR TRADE OUTCOME OF RECENT DISCUSSIONS RUSSIA AND UNITED STATES. CONDITIONS OF FINAL REPAYMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, June 12. The Russian-American agreement contains a lend-lease regulation similar to the British-American lend-lease agreement. This says that Russia’s final repayment of lend-lease to America shall be arranged so as not to burden commerce between the two countries but to promote mutually advantageous economic relations. Russia and America will make joint provisions directed toward the improvement of the material foundations of the liberty and welfare of all peoples and, further, toward the elimination of all forms of discriminatory treatment in international commerce and generally toward the principles of the Atlantic Charter. These provisions shall be open for the participation of all like-minded countries.
The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says that M. Molotov’s discussions resulted in a new schedule for lend-lease deliveries from America to Russia. The new schedule emphasises finished military material, particularly tanks and heavy bombers, while the previous agreement had primarily provided raw materials for Russia.
