ENEMY SHIPS

BOMBED OFF DUTCH COAST SEVERAL DIRECT HITS. ONE VESSEL PROBABLY BLOWN UP.. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) > RUGBY, June 12. Hudsons of a Canadian Coastal Command squadron bombed and hit two enemy vessels off the Dutch coast during the night. The crew of one of the Hudsons sighted a convoy of four me-dium-sized enemy supply ships shortly after midnight and immediately attacked the largest. The pilot flew so low that his trailing aerial was torn off by the masts of the ship. At least three of the bombs were direct hits. Half an hour later, while on their way home, the crew of the bomber saw a brilliant flash on the horizon, and it is believed that the ship may have blown up. A second Hudson was on its first operational sortie and claimed a direct hit on a small enemy vessel.
