NEW ZEALAND TROOPS
BEARING IN MIDDLE EAST BATTLES. MESSAGE FROM GENERAL FREYBERG. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A message has been received by the Prime Minister. Mr Fraser, from Major-General Sir Bernard Freyberg, officer-commanding the New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, as follows:— "I am most grateful to you and the Government for your kind cable of congratulations. The honour conferred on me .1 take as an expression of admiration for the magnificent bearing cn the battlefield of the New Zealand Forces here in the Middle East. I wish the people of New Zealand could know the esteem in which the New Zealanders are held and the golden opinions they have gained upon every side. May I add my most sincere thanks to you and the Government for the great help given during two difficult and momentous years for New Zealand. - ’
