MASTERTON COMPANIES RESUMING PARADES ACTIVITIES DURING VACATION. FURTHER WORK IN PROSPECT. As notified by advertisement in this issue A, C and Headquarters companies of the Masterton Home Guard Battalion will recommence parades this week. The usual parade will be held at the companies’ respective drill halls on Thursday, January 8, at 7 p.m. Stretcher-bearers, signallers and other specialists will conform to the usual arrangements. There will, however. be no N.C.O. class this week. Although ordinary parades have been suspended during the last few weeks, several officers and n.c.o's. have made good use of the vacation period to carry out certain specific defence assignments involving considerable time and effort, and good progress in these duties has been reported. The Masterton Battalion has now been issued with further ammunition for range practice, and practices will recommence at an early date. It is also proposed to employ men on the making of “Molotov cocktails” and other defence preparations.
