GREAT INCREASE
IN PRODUCTION OF ARMS CALLED FOR,BY MR BEVIN. CHANCE OF SHORTENING WAR. LONDON, November 17. In a visit to war factories in the north of England, the Minister of Labour, Mr Ernest Bevin, was heartily received by the workers, many girls thumping him on the back and calling “Good old Bevin!” Mr Bevin said he wanted an increase in production of from 30 to 40 per cent. “If we can get that,” he said, “I believe there is a real chance of upsetting German strategy and shortening the war.”
