Mr J. F. Donnelly, Supervisor of the Telegraph Branch in the Masterton Bos Office, has been notified of his promotion to a similar position at Gisborne and he will take up his new duties at an early date. The Rev. Clifford L. Welch, of the London Missionary Society, Nauru, has 1 arrived at Auckland. He is to supply the pulpit at the Beresford Street Congregational Church, Auckland, for six months from November 23. Mr A. P. Wilson, formerly chairman of stipendiary stewards for the New Zealand Racing Conference, has resigned his position as stipendiary steward to the Durban Turf Club (South Africa) to take a similar post with tne Royal Calcutta Turf Club. - The death has occurred of Mr James Hastings, a well-known figure in the Manawatu. Born in Scotland m 1864, Mi Hastings came to New Zealand at the age of 19, and made his home on a farm in the Hunterville district. Later he farmed in the Woodville and Manawatu districts till 35 years ago, when he bought a property at Aokautere.
