WEDDING

ROWLINGS—ABBOTT. (“Times-Age” Special.) At St. Mark's Anglican Church, Carterton, on Saturday, Azelius Charlotte, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Abbott, of Chester Road, Clareville. was married to Pat, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Bert Rowlings, of Motueka, Nelson. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of magnolia satin, cut on classic lines. An exquisite point lace veil, lent by her cousin, Mrs L. Sowman, was held in place by a halo of orange blossoms. Miss Olgie Watson attended the bride as bridesmaid. She was attired in buttercup yellow Swiss muslin. In her hair she wore a top-not of spring fiowers and carried a bouquet to tone.

The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Stan Newport. The Rev. W. F. Stent, Vicar of St. Mark’s, was the officiating clergyman.

After the signing of the register, Mr and Mrs Rowlings left the church amid showers of confetti for the Clareville Social Hall where a large number of guests sat down to the wedding breakfast. The bride’s mother, wearing a black frock, with teal blue hat and coat with black accessories and carrying a bouquet of spring flowers, received the guests. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Rowlings, who was dressed in a teal blue costume with fur cape and accessories to match and carried a bouquet of spring flowers.

The usual toasts were honoured. Later Mr and Mrs Rowlings left on a tour of the North Island, the bride wearing an air force blue costume, with hat to match. She carried a fur stole, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs Rowlings will reside in Motueka.
