ZMai'shal Petain, in a broadcast. to the French people, announced that Admiral Darlan had been appointed to take charge of the land, sea and air forces of France. The Marshal also announced the adoption of a twelve-point programme to save France, which included the dissolution of all political parties in unoccupied France, the taking of an oath to himself by all Ministers and civil servants, the trial of those responsible for France's fall, and the reorganisation of the economic status of France.
