WEDDING

McMullen—cherry. The marriage took place at St. John's Church. Featherston, on May 31 of Mavis Leanora (Peggy), daughter of Mr and Mrs H. M. Cherry, and Thomas MacKenzie (Ken), son of Mr and Mrs T. McMullen, of Masterton, The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of white embossed crepe with a lace yolk and sleeves. The veil, which was held in place by a spray of orange blossom, formed a second train. She carried a bouquet of cream roses, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The bride' was attended by Miss Molly Hyland, who wore a frock of georgette over a new shade of taffeta and carried a posy to tone. The flower girls, Misses Molly and Nancy Cherry, twin sisters of the bride, wore sky blue taffeta dresses with a large bow on the back. They carried little hand muffs to match and wore rosebuds in their hair. Mr Allen Billington, of Masterton, carried out the duties of best man. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a string of pearls, to the bridesmaid a gold bangle and to the flower girls a gold brooch with their names engraved thereon. A reception was held at the Anzacj Hall where the bride and bridegroom received a number of guests, among whom were four generations of the bride's family. Mr and Mrs McMullen have taken up their residence in Masterton.
