Reports by the Defence and Military Allaiis Committee and the Primary and Industrial Production Committee of the War Council were considered at a meeting of the coLtncil yesterday. The Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash, said last night that the manpower position was discussed and that certain recommendations had been made for the consideration of the War Cabinet: The council approved of a proposal to establish testing stations, two fixed- and two mobile, at each of four main centres, for the identification of lachrymator and poison gases,” said Mr Nash. “These stations will function as part of the Emergency Precautions Organisation. "The shipping position in the Pacific and the Tasmtm was also discussed by the council and reference made to the proposals of the Government in regard to the erection of storage for foodstuffs awaiting shipment overseas.” Mr Nash said the council was informed of the position in regard to Crete and the part played by’ the N.Z.E.F. in the valiant defence there.
