CHRISTMAS SERVICE
GATHERING IN THE PARK. There was a large and representative attendance at the early morning Christmas service held at the Masterton Park yesterday morning. The service, which was under the auspices of the Inter-denominational Bible Class committee was most impressive. The weather was all that could be desired. The Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich presided. The service commenced with tin: singing .of the National Anthem and the hymn "O Come All Ye Faithful" after which Mr A. E. Bate led the gathering in prayer. Following the hymn "Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” Miss L. Cocker read the lesson. A quartette "The Ivory Palaces” was sung by Messrs Ivan Muir, M. Munn, G. Masters and S. Alpe, members of the Knox Men’s Bible Class. Mr Ivan Muir, 8.A., gave an appropriate address, which received a most attentive hearing. The address was followed by the hymn "While Shepherds Watch.” Mr Rich led the meeting in prayer and pronounced the benediction. He extended a welcome to Mr Bate, who was the founder of the function when he was Y.M.C.A. secretary in Masterton.
