BOWLING TOURNEY

WAIRARAPA CENTRE FIXTURE GREYTOWN RINK WINS ON AGGREGATE. RESULTS OF YESTERDAY’S PLAY. A patriotic tournament organised by the Wairarapa Bowling Centre and held on the Masterton and .Park greens was brought to a conclusion last eVening. Those who took part voted the tournament the most successful yet held by the Centre. Eight teams won 4 games each and on the aggregate points the placings were: — Burden. Nightingale, Courtis, McLeod (s) Grey town, 70 points, 1. (Trophy, 4 blazers donated by Messrs Rew & McCracken and the Masterton Club). Allan. Fergusson, Reader, Gibson (s) Park. 71 points. 2. (Prize a lamb donated by Mr C. M. Ross, Martinborough). Fuge, James, O'Neal, Rolls (s) Featherston. 69 points, 3 (received a lamb donated by Mr P. Bain, Carterton). Reed. Jones, Hayne, Roberts (s) beat Winhall. Leigh, Newton, Simpson (s) by one point for a special trophy donated by Mr J. J. Hunter, Masterton. At the conclusion of play Mr G. Hayne, president of the Wairarapa Centre, presented the trophies and congratulated the winners on their success. All the winners responded. Eulogistic reference was made to the work of the Centre secretary, Mr H. M. Smith, and votes of thanks were extended .to the greenkeepers of both the Masterton and Park clubs for the excellent state of the greens. The amount raised for the patriotic appeal, with further donations yet to be received, totalled £7l 12s, made up as follows: Masterton Club, £25 6s 6d; Park, £22 18s 6d; Featherston, £1 15s; Carterton, £6; Greytown, £4 3s; Martinborough, £5; flag appeal, £6 9s.
