MASTERTON AND MEMORIAL JOIN HANDS AMALGAMATION TAKES EFFECT. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. At a largely attended meeting of member’s of the Masterton and Memorial Lawn Tennis clubs held in the A and P Rooms last night proposals for the formation of a United Club for the ensuing season were adopted and it was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 26. Mr H. M. Boddington was elected to the chair. Several apologies for absence were received. Mr E. M. Hodder briefly outlined the amalgamation proposals approved at a joint meeting of the Masterton and Memorial committees. These, after being amplified by Mr J. T. Jameson, were adopted unanimously. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr J. T. Jameson; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs E. M. Hodder and J. A. Kennedy; committee, Mrs C. Torr, Misses B. Payton and N. Smith, Messrs H. M. A. Major, W. Marchbank, J. J. Payton; hon. secretary, Mr J. Corbishley; hon. treasurer, Mr M. G. Wing; club captain. Mr E. M. Hodder; delegates to the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs E. M. Hodder, J. A. Kennedy and P. Hawksworth; hon. auditor, Mr A. D. Low. A report of the annual meeting of the Masterton Lawn Tennis Club appears on page 8.
