The Air Ministry has announced that the R.A.F. last night bombed objectives in Germany and Holland, including Wismar, Keil, Hamburg and Hamm, also the aerodromes at Schipol and Borkum. All our planes returned. AIR DUEL SPITFIRE DRIVES OFF BOMBER. (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m) LONDON, August G. A Spitfire and a German plane fought a duel over a north-eastern coastal town this afternoon. The Spitfire, after a terrific power-dive, attacked the enemy which jettisoned its bomb cargo and made off towards the coast, pursued by the Spitfire. Three high-explosive bombs and twenty-five incendiary bombs were dropped. There were no casualties.
