EFFICIENCY TESTS

PUBLIC SERVICE PROTEST. BAY OF PLENTY RESOLUTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ROTORUA. August 6. At a meeting of the Bay of -Plenty section of the Public Service Association. the Public Service Commissioner's report on the question of efficiency tests was discussed and it was resolved that the following resolution be forwarded to the Public Service Association, Wellington:— “The Bay of Plenty section of the Public Service Association confirms its support of the executive committee in its opposition to efficiency tests in there present form, and considers that their present form, and considers that not correctly informed when he states that the service generally does not support the Public Service Association in the attitude it has taken up. We ask whether it is fair to the service to infer that the attitude of the 134 officers who submitted themselves for examination reflects the feelings of the more than 10,000 officers under his control. We also feel justified in entering a vigorous protest against the manner in which the Public Service Commissioner has seen fit to describe those officers of the Public Service who have in the past opposed the whole question of efficiency tests in their present form."
