A cloudburst on July 26, the news of which has just been released, nearly washed away the Scottish port of Cromarty, where it caused tremendous havoc and thousands of pounds worth of damage. No house or shop is undamaged. The cloudburst struck the town with a thunder-like noise. Hill burns were swollen to mighty torrents and swept through the streets, carrying everything before them. Four houses were demolished. One owner snatched a baby from its cradle a waded waist-deep through swirling waters. Flowers, vegetables and furniture were swept down to the sea.
