PLUNKET SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a very representative gathering at the annual meeting of the Greytown sub-branch of the Plunket Society held recently. Mrs R. G. Vile, president, occupied the chair. There were also present: Mesdames Maddison, Wiggins, Everett, Nicholsen, A.nker, Nicholls, Knell, Gregor. Stevens, Barnard, Kiernan, Horton. Oakey, Haigh, Tregurtha, Nisbet and Bunny. Mesdames Wells and Trapp represented the Carterton branch. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Bayliss, York, Robb, Richards, J. F. Thompson, Bull, Carter, Peterson and Miss Tate. The annual report showed that the past year’s work had been most successful. The sum of £6O 7s 5d had been raised by bridge efforts, raffles and afternoon tea, and £5 Is for the Truby King Memorial. Mrs Trapp (hon. secretary of the Carterton branch) read a letter from Mrs Begg (Dominion President) appealing to members not to relax their efforts, as the Plunket work was most important at the present time and must be kept going. Votes of thanks were passed to the Advisory Board, hon. auditor and the Press.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patroness, Mrs Horton; president, Mrs Vile; vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames Maddison and. Wiggins; hon. secretary, Mrs Bunny; hon. treasurer, Mrs Nisbet; committee, Mesdames Anker, Barnard, Bayliss, Burns, Dennes, Everitt, Fuller, Gregor, Haigh, Kiernan, Nicholls, Richards, Robb, Stevens, Stuart, Tregurtha, York, Wiggins; advisory board, Messrs J. F. Thompson, W. J. Knell, J. W. Barnard, R. G. Vile, Dr. Oakey; hon. auditor, Mr W. J. Knell. At the conclusion of the meeting afternoon tea was served. Nurse Edgley’s report for the year ended March 31, 1940, stated inter alia: —Visits to homes: New cases, 106; old cases, 514. Visits to rooms: Mothers, 673; babies, 654; older children, 99. Number of babies on books, 53; number of older children (18 months to 5 years), 23. Following the annual meeting the committee met. Mrs Vile occupied the chair and routine business was transacted. THE CENTENNIAL FINAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the final meeting of the committee of the Greytown Centennial celebrations, the Mayor (Mr A. W. Horton) presided. The balance sheet was presented and adopted. The receipts were shown to have been £92 15s 4d and the expenditure £9O 13s 4d. The credit balance of £2 2s is to be transferred to the Rest Room account. It was decided to award the dinner set to the original holder of the winning ticket (No. 252) on the making of a statutory declaration. On the motion of Mr J. F. Thompson a vote of thanks was passed to /the Mayor and Mayoress for the manner in which they had carried out their duties. Mr Horton suitably replied.
