TRUST LANDS TRUST

FUNDS BEING WELL MAINTAINED. (“Times-Age" Special.) The annual, meeting of the Greytown Trust Lands Trust was held last night. Mr H. G. Carter (chairman) presided. The annual report for the year was submitted as follows:—Grants made: Public Library, £6O; Memorial Park £2O; Centennial Rest Room. £2O; School Committee. £6O; Fire Brigade £2O; Plunket Society, £l5. The bookvalues of properties was £4155 2s 9d; shares in Permanent Investment and Loan Association. £468 ss. Od. The balance of assets was shown as £5252 15s. 7d. The balance-sheet presented showed that the funds of the trust were beingwell maintained. Messrs. W. Tully and M. Maxton were re-elected auditors. Messrs. W. H. Day and' H. Walden, who retired by rotation, were reelected trustees. Mr. A. H. York was elected to fill the vacancy by the resignation of Mr. J. W. Barnard. At the monthly meeting of the Trust held after the annual meeting, Mr. H. G. Carter, the retiring chairman, nominated Mr. F. Dcnnes as chairman for the ensuing year. Mr. H. J. Nightingale seconded the motion, which was carried. On taking the chair Mr. Dennes expressed his thanks for the honour done him. He agreed that the office of chairman should go round. Mr. Dennes congratulated Mr. York qn his election, and extended to him a hearty welcome. A letter was received from the Wairarapa Hospital Board asking for 21 acres of land for the extension of buildings. The trustees agreed with the proposal, and the chairman was authorised to confer with the Trust solicitors on the matter. A grant of £5 was made to the school for use by the committe and headmaster in connection with a visit to the Exhibition. MOROA WATER RACE CHAIRMAN RE-JELECTED. The monthly meeting of the Moroa Water Race Committee was held at Greytown yesterday afternoon, there being present Messrs. J. Stringfellow (chairman). H. Cook, J. G. Donald R. Donald, W. Sadler and the secretary, Mr. B. Kiernan. Mr. Stringfellow was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year J The Featherston County Council wrote asking the committee to fix the rate for the coming year. It was decided that the water-race rate be the same as previously. 3-8 of a penny in the £. The overseer at the headworks, Mr. P. Svenson, reported that the races were in good order. He was granted bis annual leave from May 3. Exhibition Visit. The special train which is to convey the Gerytown school children to the' Exhibition will leave Greytown at 7.20 a.m. It is estimated that over 300 children and adults will make the trip.
