Further nomination’of officers for election on May 27 will be taken on the next lodge night, when a minor degree lecture will also be given. ST. MARK’S CHURCH PARISHIONERS MEET. The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. Mark's Church was held in the Parish Hall last evening. The Rev. W. F. Stent presided. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Vicar's churchwarden, Mr W. G. Thomas; parishioners' warden, Mr W. C. M. Sorensen; vestrymen, Messrs A. W. Beale, J. Court, G. H. Deuer, j. Eaton, E. H. Fisher, (_'. K. Goodin. D. Irwin, J. G. Mitchell, T. G. Reading. S. T. Rooney; Mr P. A. Cole, auditor. The balance .sheet showed that the liabilities amounted to £76. It was decided to do certain necessary repairs to the Vicarage. A meeting of parishioners is to be called at an early date to consider the Vicarage rebuilding problem. The Bishop is to be asked to attend the meeting. The Ladies' Guild was specially thanked for their very generous financial assistance during the past year.

COMBINED DANCE SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. Members of the Hinemoa Hockey Club and the Belvedere Basketball Club should be very pleased with the siiceess of their combined dance held in the State Theatre, Carterton, last evening. The dancing spate in the han was filled. Visitors were present from all parts of the district. The funds of both clubs should materially benefit as a result of the dance. Excellent music was played by Te Tau's Orchestra. Extras were played by Misses V. Ward, N. James and V. Irwin. The lucky spot waltz was won by Miss Beryl Irwin and Mr J. Jensen and the Monte Carlo was won by Miss Audrey Williams and Mr J. Parker. Mr A. Kay sang several songs, playing his own accompaniment on the guitar. Miss Edna Morrison, of Hawke's Bay, delighted the audience with an acrobatic dance. The M.C's. were Messrs R. O'Keefe and E. J. Lenihan. Supper was served by the ladies’ committee. Jersey Cattle Sale. Yesterday members of the Wairarapa Jersey Club assembled at Middle Run to select cows for the sale on May 14. Five cows were picked out from the herd and a prize will be given to the person guessing the nearest total price these cows bring under the hammer. Baby Carnival. The position of the leading candidates in connection with the South Wairarapa Baby Carnival which is being conducted at the Regent Theatre, Carterton, is as follows: —No. 12. 829; No. 24, 764; No. 51, 642; No. 11, 517; No. 6. 494; No. 32. 316; No. 38, 254; No. 13. 245; No. 15, 222; No. 20, 190. Six prizes are being competed for, ranging from £5 down to 12s. When the local competition has been completed the siz highest babies will compete with the six winners from Masterton, Pahiatua, and Dannevirke for prizes ranging up to £2O. Personal. Miss Shirley Copeland, of Cartgrton, who accepted an engagement with Messrs Roache Ltd., of Hastings, has commenced her new duties.
