THE FEDERAL CABINET ENDING THE COAL STRIKE. MR MENZIES GRANTS MINERS BRIEF DELAY. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. CANBERRA, April 29. Following the miners' eleventh-hour move in obtaining an interview with the Prime Minister. Mr Menzies, as a result of his threat that the Government would order the reopening of the collieries with non-union labour, Mr Menzies today agreed to defer action till tomorrow night. In the meantime the miners’ delegations will interview the Chief Judge of the Arbitration Court. The War Cabinet received Mr Menzies’ report on his conference with the miners’ officials and the Government’s plans are fully prepared in the event of a breakdown in negotiations.
