WOMEN’S GOLF
MIRAMAR TOURNAMENT.
MISS S. COLLINS PLAYS WELL

The Miramar Ladies’ Golf Club had an entry of about 130 for its open championship and handicap tournament, which opened yesterday. Players were present from as far south as Westport, and Wellington clubs were all well represented.
Two qualifying rounds wore played for the championship, the list being headed by Miss S. Collins (Wairarapa). New Zealand woman champion, who covered the course in 86 and 82. She wanted a 4 for an 80 at the home hole in the afternoon, but popped her iron second into a bunker to the right of the green and took 2 to get out. a 6 going down on her card. Mrs H. Pearce (Miramar) came next with steady rounds of 84 and 85.
The following 16’ qualified to play off for the championship:—Miss S. Collins, 168; Mi-s H. Pearce, 169; Mrs MacRae. 173; Mrs Cornaga, 173; Mrs Farr, 175; Miss G. Stevens, 175; Mrs Thurgood, 176; Mrs Banks, 177; Mrs Foreman, 178; Mrs Hewitt, 179; Mrs Mackenzie. 179; Mrs Russell, 179; Mrs Harman, 180; Mrs Lewis, 181; Mrs Horner, 181; Mrs Wells, 182.
