MARTINBOROUGH
DAFFODIL SHOW ATTRACTIVE DISPLAY EXPECTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A bright and attractive display is expected at the Martinborough Daffodil and Industrial Show, to be held in the Parish Hall, Martinborough, on Tuesday next. Entries will close on Monday at 11 a.m. Besides daffodils of all kinds, there will be classes for decorative, needlework, home produce exhibits. There is also a section for children’s exhibits. CRICKET CLUB ANNIVERSARY MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Martinborough Cricket Club the president, Mr W. B. Martin, was in the chair. The report disclosed a credit on the year’s working of £9. Mention was made of the purchase of the shed from the Girls’ Club and the financial assistance therewith from Mr N. Prussing, to whom the thanks of the Club were due. To their president the Club was deeply indebted for arranging a mortgage and lease with the trustees and also for his continued assistance in rhany wavs. Regret was expressed at the loss of Messrs A. Brimble and W. Holland, who had rendered valued service on and off the field. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr A. B. Martin: president, Mr W. B. Martin; vice-presidents, Dr Coutts, Messrs D. H. S. Riddiford, T. Scott, T. Grant, J. A. McLeod, H. L. Griffiths, T. Smith, R. Soughtton, F. Alpe, — Stewart and F. S. Michell; committee, Messrs C. Murphy, J. Flynn, T. Grant, J. Power, T. Scott; delegates to Association, Messrs Power and Scott; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Johns (unanimously re-elected). Eulogistic reference was made to the work of the secretary in the interests of the Club, and a vote of thanks was passed to him. It was decided to enter a junior team in the Wairarapa Cricket Association’s competition. A working bee was arranged for Saturday to fence off the ground and run sheep. Mr W. B. Martin offered to loan the fencing.
