MEETING OF WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION.' ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMING FIXTURES. The management committee of the Wairarapa Hockey Association held its monthly meeting in Masterton last I evening, Mr G. Hayne, president, being in the chair. The Manawatu Association wrote suggesting September 23 for the return match with Wairarapa. It was decided to accept this date. The Wesley Club entered a protest against Carterton playing junior players in the third grade. The protest was upheld and jhe match awarded to Wesley. ; A circular was received from the Recreation Week Committee inviting the Hockey Association to assist in Recreation Week. It was decided to give the committee full support and a delegate was appointed to attend the meeting to be held tonight. Owing to the unsatisfactory international situation, the proposed dance to be held in October was cancelled. A letter is to be forwarded to My Hancox (Principal of Wairarapa College) wishing him a speedy and complete recovery from his recent illness.

It t was decided to support the tournament s by entering senior and junior teams - from Wairarapa. It was decided that Wesley and Cole lege should meet in a play-off for june ior championship honours on Saturday s next. ” A play-off is also necessary in the s third grade competition, and this will s be played at Carterton on Saturday s between Wesley and Greytown Scouts. WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION. • RECENT TOURNEY AT BLENHEIM. A meeting of the Wairarapa Wom1 en’s Hockey Association was held in 2 Masterton last evening. Mr W. Harding presided. £ The Ruahine Association wrote invit- - ing Wairarapa to send a representative team to Dannevirke on September 9. , The invitation was declined. A very instructive report was receiv- > ed from Mr F. Madsen, manager of • the Wairarapa team at the New Zea- • land tournament in Blenheim. He reported that although the team put ’ up a good performance, physical fitness t. was a weak point and he suggested > that in future the team should be sel- ; ected at least a month before the tourney and given physical training. HC ■ was sure the younger members of the ; team would have gained much benefit ■ from the tournament. Thg Wairarapa ’ team (in their new uniforms) were ■ voted the best team at the tournament. The hospitality shown by the public ■ and the Marlborough Association was : a feature of the Tournament. Mr Madsen was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his report. Mr J. Rutherford, manager of the teams to Wellington, and Mr Harding, manager of the team to Manawatu, were also accorded a vote of thanks for their reports on these matches. It was decided to carry on with the Knockout Competition on Saturday next. The seniors are to play for the Kia Toa Cup and the juniors for the Morris Cup. SATURDAY’S GAMES. FIXTURES AND REFEREES. Hayne; Cole Burgess Cup. —Carterton v Greytown at Carterton at 3 p.m. Messrs M. Worsfold and V. Sayer. Third grade: Championship play-off. —Wesley v Greytown Scouts at Carterton at 3 p.m. Mr G. Maloney. Senior ladies: Kia Toa Cup:—Kiwi v Carterton at Lansdowne No 2 at 2.45 p.m. Messrs G. Morice and E. Tooby; College v Kia Ora A at Lansdowne No 4 at 2.45 p.m. Mr W. Harding; Excelsior v Kia Ora B at Lansdowne No 3 at 2.45 p.m. Mr R. Foster. Sticks and boots belonging to members of the tournament team may be obtained at the ground before the games commence.
