CLAIM BY “DIRECTOR OF PUBLICITY"
CAMPAIGN FOR -21 YEARS OR LONGER. BRITISH PEOPLE IN IRELAND THREATENED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, August 1. The “News Chronicle" says that according to a letter of undoubted authenticity, signed by Michael Doyle, Director of Publicity of the Irish Republican Army, at Dublin, this organisation boasts that it can continue its terrorist campaign for 21- years or longer, according to the measure of support received in Ireland. The cost is approximately £1,200 a week, though the terrorists themselves are not paid.
Reprisals against Britons in Ireland, numbering 40.000 in only two cities, are now threatened. The volunteers undergo a technical military training for an unspecified period of years. Sir Walter Monckton will examine objection against deportation by men subjected to these orders.
A British Official Wireless message states that the Home Secretary (Sir S. Hoare) has signed expulsion orders against a girl suspected of I.R.A. activities and five men.
