ARBOR DAY CEREMONY

SERVICES FOR EDUCATION RECOGNISED. TREES PLANTED IN COLLEGE GROUND. Eight oak trees, named after men who had in the distant or near past rendered yeoman service to the Masterton Technical School, the Wairarapa High School or the Wairarapa College were planted this morning at the recently improved Cornwall Street entrance to the College, on the occasion of Arbor Day. The trees were planted in the presence of the assembled pupils and staff of the College, besides several members of the College Board of Governors, including the chairman. Mr W. R. Nicol, and others. At the morning assembly, the Principal. Mr G. G. Hancox, spoke of the significance of Arbor Day. Trees were planted in recognition of services rendered by the following: W. H. Jackson (the tree being planted by Mr Jackson himself); the late C. E. Daniell (planted by Rex and John Daniell): Peter Fraser (Mrs J. Robertson); T. Jordan (Miss P. Jordan); late J. M. Coradine (Mr W. R. Nicol); late A. W. Hogg (Miss Hogg); late W. T. Grundy (Mrs W. G. Lamb); late H. C. L. Robinson (Mr H. W. Robinson). Brief reference was made to the services rendered in each case and thanks were expressed to those who had planted the trees. During the day native trees were planted in various parts of the College property.
