FUNDS FOR IMPORTS
PROTESTS BY BUSINESS FIRMS. RESERVE BANK DEMANDS FOR INFORMATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Strong exception is taken by some Wellington importers to supplying part of the information required in support of applications to the Reserve Bank for sterling exchange to pay for goods already licensed by the Customs Department. The requirement makes it obligatory to indicate, not only the country to which the money is to be remitted but also the names of firms or individuals who will receive the money. The objecting importers cannot see what possible use the names could be to the Government and they are exceedingly loath to disclose their sources of supply. Their competitors would go to great lengths in some cases to find these sources out.
