FARMERS’ UNION

MEETING OF WAIRARAPA EXECUTIVE

KUMEROA BRANCH SEVERS CONNECTION.

JOINING UP WITH SOUTHERN HAWKE'S BAY.

A meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union is being held in Masterton today, the president, Mr Hugh Morrison peing in the chair.

“At a recent meeting of the Kumeroa branch of the Farmers’ Union, it was decided: —“That this branch as a branch be disbanded and become absorbed into the Woodville branch, thus severing cur connection of many years with the Wairarapa Province,” stated a letter from Mr Jas A. Cheyne, honorary secretary of the Kumeroa branch. “It was felt by the members here that Masterton was too far away as a centre and that as cur normal centre is Dannevirke, and Woodville our usual town, we would be better served by joining up there. This will no doubt give local members more interest in the Union, and after all, that is the main .thing at present. The opinion at the meeting was unanimous.”

It was decided to accept the Kumeroa branch’s resignation and the secretary was instructed to write and thank the branch for its loyal support to the executive over a long period of years.

A letter was received from the Wanganui provincial district, congratulating the executive on the splendid arrangements and efficient handling of the recent interprovincial conference at Masterton and acknowledging the very fine entertainment afforded to delegates.
